- I have uploaded a zip file (Bally EM Manual) to the files section. If you have a Bally 3 reel machine Model 742a thru 962 this book is great. It's a large file but it's worth the download time. This book has helped me keep my Bally humming right along for the last 20 years. Have a nice day & Enjoy the PDF.

Subject: Bally EM Troubleshooting and Questions | Author: jimmcc
| [ Next Thread |Previous Thread |Next Message |Previous Message] Date Posted:17:11:47 04/14/06 Fri Hi, I just acquired my first Bally EM slot (yay!) and have a few questions about it. I have the Mead pictorial owner's guide but I don't want to tear into this machine if I don't absolutely have to (I did figure out how to remove the hopper and reel mechs, tho). BTW, the machine is a Bally 1091-44 dollar slot. Here goes: If I play three dollars, it will often pay out at least one coin at the end of every play, even if there is not a winning combination. Note that if there *is* a winning combination, it usually pays the correct amount (no extra). The machine will accept more than three coins, even though after the third coin all of the top lights are lit, all three payout lines are lit, and the 'Deposit Coin' light goes out. The first two reels stop pretty quickly, but the third reel sometimes runs a bit longer. Sometimes (rarely), the machine will even start to pay on a winning combination before the third reel comes to a complete stop. There is a coil inside the door just above the lock, near the edge of the door. It appears to have something to do with redirecting coins, but I have never seen it engaged. What does it do? Where on the hopper does it tell the coin mech to start redirecting money to the cash box? The Mead Owners Guide shows some sort of a tool that will engage the reel mechanism when it is out of the machine. It looks like a modified screwdriver. How can I make one, or can I buy one? Thanks! You will need to lubricate the mechanism - especially the 3rd reel shafts and linkages. You do not need a device to spin the reels - just push the U shaped arm on the right side of the mech. (hold onto the front of the mech when you do so). Check the reel wipers - make sure that they are lining up on a row and not straddling 2 rows (this you will have to checkout in the manual as I cannot describe this in the confines of this forum). Lastly, accepting more than 3 coins is the scavenger coil system - you either have a bad coil or contacts in the feature unit that regulate the coil [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

The reel and payout problems seem to be intermittent. Last night I played it some and didn't have either problem. But I will look into lubricating the third reel. Thanks!
